Albany Attorney to Make National Impact Before Congress

Tully Rinckey PLLC Founding partner, Mathew B. Tully will appear before the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations of the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs. He has been invited by the Subcommittee to provide comment on the Veterans’ Affairs Office of General Counsel.

Tully has a great deal of knowledge in dealing with the Department of Veterans’ Affairs and its Office of General Counsel. Tully is a Major in the New York National Guard and is a Service-Disabled Veteran of the Iraq War. He also established his law firm, Tully Rinckey PLLC, in 2003, serving the legal needs of government employees in labor matters. Tully will testify on the ineffectual legal strategies currently conducted by the Veterans’ Affairs Office of General Counsel that often prolong Veterans’ Affairs employees’ labor and employment claims. He will testify that this leads to increased legal costs for individual clients and greater stress on the legal system as a whole.

Mr. Tully expressed his gratitude in being invited to testify, “It is a great honor to be invited and to offer testimony to the Subcommittee on a subject that is very close to me, both personally and professionally.” Tully has been asked to provide testimony previously. In October of 2007, he testified in front of the United States Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs regarding his criticism of and recommendations for changes to USERRA. He provided his expertise on the Act again to the Committee in February of 2008. This time, Tully will appear before the Subcommittee on Wednesday, June 30th.

The success of Tully’s representation of military members and Federal Employees has allowed the firm to expand its Albany and Washington D.C. offices to accommodate added staff. The Albany expansion has allowed the firm to add 16 new attorneys and support staff. The firm will also add another 5,000 feet bringing the total size to 16,300 square feet covering two floors. The Washington D.C. offices, with primarily federal employment and military law, has recently added six new attorneys and doubled its office space at 1800 K Street, now occupying three separate offices in the building.

If you would like more information or would like to speak with Mr. Tully about the testimony, please call 518-218-7100.
