Dressing Down For a Good Cause

It’s another reason to love Fridays! In what’s become a tradition at Tully Rinckey PLLC, employees are dressing down for a good cause. Beginning in January 2010, the law firm offered employees the chance to don their favorite pair of jeans on Fridays, in exchange for $1. The firm collects the money each month, matches it, and donates to local charity.

To date, Tully Rinckey has donated over $2,000 to various organizations, including the Schenectady County SPCA, Leadership Tech Valley, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Northeast Parent & Child Society, Girl Scouts of America, Ronald McDonald House, Mohawk Hudson Humane Society and the American Red Cross.

It’s not unusual for corporate offices to offer dress down Fridays, but Tully Rinckey founding partner Mathew B. Tully says, “It’s uncommon for attorneys to wear jeans to work.” Lawyers are often meeting with clients and making court appearances, but Tully says, “It’s about charity.” Tully took the firm’s mission to new heights last week when he wore jeans and a t-shirt to a business event in Albany. “Everybody was looking at me like I was crazy,” says Tully. “I didn’t care. I told them ‘it’s dress down Friday!”
