Local Law Firm Makes Historic Donation

A legal victory leads to a $50,000 donation for the Schenectady County SPCA.

Tully Rinckey presented a check Thursday for the amount the New York State Court of Appeals awarded the firm in April of last year. The firm tells us the case was over the Department of Education’s refusal to respond to an SPAC Freedom of Information request of licensed vets.

They won the suit and the education department had to pay for legal fees. Now the money will go to help animals in the community.

“It’s not every day where a group like us who just a few months ago were struggling, we’re sending our volunteers dumpster diving looking for nickel deposits, where we get $50,000 and we’re able to turn that into a much needed police vehicle,” says SPCA Chief Dave Dean.

The SPCA says this vehicle will help them follow up on patrol calls and continue to fight abuse and neglect of animals.
