Tully Rinckey PLLC partnered with the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Magnet School this Law Day to honor the uniqueness of the nation’s legal system. This year’s theme set forth by the American Bar Association is “Realizing the Dream: Equality for All.” With that theme in mind, 250 Schenectady students at the magnet school celebrated Law Day by showcasing artwork conveying messages of equality.
Each year on May 1, Law Day provides an opportunity for people of all ages to learn about the importance, history, and strength of the U.S. legal system. Third through sixth graders at the magnet school each created a poster inspired by their own interpretation of equality. Tully Rinckey PLLC Partner Graig F. Zappia announced the winners of the poster contest at the magnet school, and he spoke to a group of 250 students and their teachers on the meaning, and importance of Law Day.
The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Math, Science, Technology & Invention Magnet School is a K-8 school located in the heart of downtown Schenectady. “Celebrating Law Day with Tully Rinckey provides a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn about the importance of our nation’s laws, and how equality and freedom are vital to understanding the legacy of Dr. King,” said school principal Nicki DiLeva.
“The King Magnet School does an incredible job of encouraging young minds and cultivating an understanding of Dr. King’s legacy of equality for all. This poster contest gives young students a chance to showcase their creativity while learning more about the laws that Dr. King helped to inspire,” said Mr. Zappia.
The students who created the most thoughtful posters will have their work displayed inside City Hall in Schenectady.
