Rebecca Smith
Accountant
As an accountant, Becky serves as an internal auditor and works closely with the Chief Financial Officer. Becky’s responsibilities include helping the Tully Rinckey PLLC team analyze financial information and prepare financial reports.
Becky earned a Masters Degree in Accounting from the University at Albany in 2005. She also holds a BM degree in music education from SUNY Fredonia.
Becky has a strong background in public accounting and internal auditing. Her prior work experience includes serving as a staff accountant for The DR Group (now known as The Bonadio Group). Her role included accounting, tax and auditing services for several clients; including commercial, non-profit, governmental and small business engagements. Becky has also served as an Internal Auditor for both The Research Foundation of SUNY (RF) and SUNY System Administration. As a private, nonprofit educational corporation, the RF gives SUNY researchers the resources and flexibility they need to pursue their research goals by facilitating collaboration between SUNY and external organizations. SUNY System Administration located in the beautiful Old D&H Railroad Building in downtown Albany centrally administers the State University of New York.
Becky is a Schenectady native who plays an active role in her community. She is a member of the Schenectady County SPCA where she helps raise funds for the non- profit organization. Becky also plays clarinet with the Rotterdam Town Band. The band has regular concerts throughout the summer, which are free to the public.
Becky has a passion for horses. She volunteers at the Easy Street Horse Rescue and is a member of the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame. She also takes lessons in both English and Western riding styles.
Becky is active in networking within her community and beyond. She is currently a blogger for www.saratoga.com where she writes about accounting and horses. Her blog brings fresh insight to the intersection where the two worlds meet. In March 2010, Becky’s racehorse name, “Simple but Elegant”, was published in the memoir-biography book “Horsenameographies, Life Stories in a Race Horse Name”, published by Caballo Press, edited and designed by Rudolph Valier Alvarado. She enjoys living the country life near Mariaville Lake with her husband Ron and their two dogs, Maggie and Sydney. She likes to garden in the summer and enjoys a game of racquetball every now and then.
