Tully Rinckey PLLC has further diversified the scope of legal services it offers to clients in Western New York with the addition of a family and matrimonial law practice. Robert C. Baron, who operated a successful law firm in Williamsville for close to a decade, has joined Tully Rinckey PLLC as a senior associate and will practice family and matrimonial law out of the firm’s 70 Niagara St. office. Having helped Western New Yorkers escape millions of dollars in debt through handling over one thousand Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases while in private practice, Mr. Baron will also focus on bankruptcy law.
Mr. Baron has filed over 500 divorces and negotiated and resolved a variety of family and matrimonial law issues, including child support, child visitation, child custody, division of marital property, and spousal maintenance. His substantial legal experience in this practice area reflects a critical need in Western New York, where demand for divorce services remains strong.
The five-county Western New York region registered 4,136 divorces in 2011, according to an analysis of the most current data from the New York State Department of Health by Tully Rinckey PLLC. That marked an 11.7 percent increase from the previous year, and it was the highest number of divorces since 2003, when 4,138 divorces were finalized. The increase in the volume of Western New York divorces reflects the first full year the state allowed “no-fault” divorces. This type of divorce enables spouses to end their marriage without relying on legal grounds, such as cruel and inhuman treatment or abandonment. The result is a separation that is often less costly and emotionally trying than a traditional divorce.
The Buffalo office is one of Tully Rinckey PLLC’s six locations, with the others located in Albany, Syracuse, Rochester, Washington, D.C., and Arlington, Va. The firm, which opened its doors in Buffalo last January, continues to grow. The firm’s upstate-wide family and matrimonial law offerings include divorce, separation agreements, child custody, child support, and child visitation, among others. Western New Yorkers have access to several other teams of Tully Rinckey PLLC attorneys who focus on bankruptcy and criminal law. Combined, these teams possess decades of experience in their respective practice areas.
“The demand for divorce services remains strong in Western New York, and people need the power of experienced legal counsel on their side when navigating the difficulties of an ending marriage,” said Tully Rinckey PLLC attorney Robert Baron.
