Tully Rinckey PLLC Donates Backpacks to In-Need Students in Albany

backpack donation

Dozens of in-need students in two upstate New York schools will no longer have to carry by hand their school supplies and books thanks to a Tully Rinckey PLLC gift of 48 backpacks. Firm Partner Barbara J. King today dropped off 24 Air Express backpacks for kindergarteners at Arbor Hill Elementary School. The firm on Friday will donate the other 24 backpacks to kindergarten students at Rockwell Elementary in Syracuse.

Arbor Hill Elementary School Principal Rosalind Gaines-Harrell will distribute the backpacks to in-need students. Funding for the 48 backpacks was made possible through Tully Rinckey PLLC’s Friday dress down policy, dubbed “Jeans and Sneakers.” Under this policy, employees are allowed to wear jeans and sneakers to the office on Fridays in exchange for a $1 donation for each apparel item. The firm matches these employee donations dollar-for-dollar. Since February 2010, the firm has made monthly donations exceeding $13,600 to over 30 employee-nominated organizations. Recipients include Helping Hounds Dog Rescue in Syracuse, Western New York Heroes in Williamsville, City Mission of Schenectady, and the American Heart Association.

“School can be tough, no matter what grade you’re in, and I hope Tully Rinckey’s donation helps lighten the burden on these students and gets them excited about learning,” said Ms. King, who practices family and matrimonial law.
