Peter J. Pullano selected as recipient of the 2016 Criminal Justice Act Award by Western New York Judges


Aug.  24, 2016 – Albany, N.Y. – Tully Rinckey PLLC is pleased to announce Rochester Managing Partner Peter J. Pullano has been selected as the recipient of the 2016 Criminal Justice Act Award on behalf of the Judges of the Western District of New York.

Award recipients were honored at the annual Western District of New York Federal Court dinner on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at the Hyatt Regency in Rochester. The dinner is in its 26th year, and was established to recognize those in the legal profession who do outstanding work within the district. The Criminal Justice Act Award is for representing indigent criminal defendants in Federal District Court. Mr. Pullano has represented these cases for close to 25 years and is also designated to act as Learned Counsel in Federal Capital cases.

“Typically, Criminal Justice Act appointments are some of the most difficult and challenging cases in our Federal System,” said Mr. Pullano. “They require a great deal of work and commitment, and it is an honor to be recognized for my work in defending these cases over the years.”

Throughout the course of Mr. Pullano’s career he has handled thousands of criminal cases. His experience provides a platform for outstanding service to clients in virtually every aspect of criminal defense. Mr. Pullano is  the recipient of the Monroe County Bar Association’s Charles Criminal Award, the St. Nicholas Society’s “Man of the Year” Award, and the Rochester Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” Award. He was also recently selected for a third time as an Upstate New York Super Lawyer by Thomson Reuters, and received one of the 2015 “Leaders In Law” Awards from the Daily Record.

Mr. Pullano earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University of New York College at Buffalo and his Juris Doctorate from Albany Law School of Union University. He is a graduate of East Rochester High School, and is routinely called upon by local media to discuss state and federal criminal law matters and trends.

Mr. Pullano is Managing Partner of the firm’s recently expanded Rochester office to a new location at 400 Linden Oaks, Suite 110. The 4,360 square foot technologically advanced office space will allow the firm to grow, and employ up to 10 attorneys and three support staff.
