Andrew (“Andy”) Goodman joined Tully Rinckey PLLC’s Syracuse office in January 2026 as Senior Counsel, bringing decades of experience to a practice focused on the full range of civil litigation services. Andy is known for his strategic, results-driven advocacy, disciplined case management, and unwavering commitment to advancing his clients’ interests.

Andy’s practice includes commercial and contract disputes, business torts, partnership and shareholder conflicts, real estate and lease litigation, fraud and fiduciary claims, and post-judgment enforcement matters. His experience spans every phase of litigation in state, federal, and bankruptcy courts, from pre-suit investigation through discovery, motion practice, mediation, trial preparation, and appeals. Andy has a niche representing creditors and other parties who have received notice of a bankruptcy filing, is a secured creditor, landlord, is owed money by the debtor, has a claim against the debtor and needs representation in the Bankruptcy Court to fight for their rights.

Born in New York, Andy moved to Los Angeles with his family at the age of twelve. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Pitzer College in Claremont, California, with a dual major in Political Studies and Organizational Studies and received his Juris Doctor from Loyola Marymount University Law School in Los Angeles.

Andy was admitted to practice law in California in 1984 and New York in 1988. Before moving back to New York, Andy operated a successful solo practice and spent nearly two decades as an associate and partner with a small firm. This experience sharpened his legal skills and reinforced the importance of communication, collaboration, and building strong personal and professional relationships with clients, colleagues, and referral partners.

Andy places his clients’ interests at the center of every case and leads with a proactive litigation strategy, establishing momentum early and ensuring that the direction of the dispute is shaped by his clients’ objectives, not by the opposition.

In 2020, Andy represented multiple creditors in high-profile proceedings involving prominent personal injury attorney Thomas Girardi, filing involuntary bankruptcy petitions that resulted in the appointment of Chapter 7 trustees to take control of Mr. Girardi’s and his law firm’s assets and to recover millions of dollars of client trust funds that had been misappropriated.

Andy has earned Martindale-Hubbell’s highest AV Preeminent peer rating and has been recognized as a Super Lawyer for many years. He chaired several ABA Bankruptcy Committees, Los Angeles Bar Association Committees and is looking to become an active member of the New York legal community.

Outside the office, Andy is married and has one daughter, who was married in October 2024. He enjoys following the Mets and Knicks, playing golf, experimenting in the kitchen, photography, and discovering great wines and bourbon.
