Shanita Asante is a native Washingtonian and a graduate of Howard University School of Law. Shanita began her legal career in the federal government, as an Equal Employment Specialist, with the Transportation Security Administration, and while at TSA, Shanita worked on resolving a high-profile federal government matter that gained national media attention. Shanita’s legal analysis and investigation into the high-profile matter resulted in agency-wide resolution, disciplinary action for the violating party, and equitable remedies for the aggrieved party.
Shanita is also a trained mediator with significant experience mediating workplace conflicts, negotiating wage disputes, and investigating civil rights violations. Shanita maintained a 92% mediation resolution rate, resulting in increased workplace morale and productivity.
Shanita also worked at the United States Department of Agriculture as an Adjudicator for program discrimination complaints under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act. Shanita also represented clients in employment law matters as a solo-practitioner, and as Of Counsel with a boutique D.C. law firm.
Most recently, Shanita served as Staff Counsel, for the National Veterans Affairs Council, for the federal labor union, American Federation for Government Employees.
When Shanita is not practicing law, she enjoys traveling, reading, and visiting D.C.’s beautiful sites.
