Veterans and active duty service members from around the southern tier were treated to a free turkey Tuesday afternoon. The veteran owned law firm Tully Rinckey teamed up with Price Chopper and provided 12 to 14 pound turkeys as a way of thanking them for their service and sacrifice to our country. The “turkeys for veterans program” has been a tradition in the Albany area for 8 years and the company is now expanding the program to Syracuse and the southern tier.
“I got a nice 14 pound turkey for the family. I think its great they’re able to do this to help out the veterans,” said U.S. Navy veteran Tim McManus.
It’s just a great opportunity for us to do something in return for what they’ve done for us and all the sacrifices they’ve made for our country,” said Peter Charnetsky, Tully Rinckey.
The free turkeys were handed out on a first come, first serve basis and organizers were hoping to hand out 75 turkeys.
