VESTAL (WBNG) — The Tully Rinckey Law Firm stocked veteran tables with free turkey Monday, thanking them for their service.
“We are very appreciative of the fact that they fought for their country, so it is something that we do. it’s just a small gesture to let them know that there’s someone thinking about them,” said Debra Cohn, managing partner at Tully Rinckey.
Employees handed out 100 birds in Vestal, but they didn’t stop giving after the turkeys ran out. They also provided grocery store gift cards.
Supporting our servicemen is a cause that hits home for Ida Knapp of Harpursville.
“My husband served. My husband is over 100% disabled,” she said.
He was wounded in Vietnam and suffers from Parkinson’s disease, diabetes and post traumatic stress disorder. She almost lost him five years ago.
Knapp says at times, her family struggles to put food food at the table, so the giveaway goes a long way.
“Saying to the veterans, here’s a free turkey, for your Christmas or your Thanksgiving, means a lot to them.”
And the free birds speak volumes about the law firm.
“This means that somebody cares about our veterans out there,” continuing, “I’m here to support the veteran’s, 100% I stand behind them.”
