ALBANY, N.Y. (WRGB) — Albany police arrested 31-year-old Devin Brewington on Sunday afternoon and transferred him to the Colonie Police Department on an outstanding warrant after investigators identified him as the suspect in videos showing assaults on bystanders.
Albany police did not release the suspect’s name, but Colonie police said they had only one person transferred to their custody for an outstanding warrant over the weekend, and that person was Brewington.
Derek Ellis, a public information officer for the Albany Police Department, said officers were able to identify the suspect in the videos.
He had an active warrant out of the town of Colonie.” Ellis said, “So yesterday afternoon, officers of the department were able to take the gentleman into custody and turn him over to the custody of the Colonie Police Department.”
Police said Brewington was arrested on a failure-to-appear warrant Sunday. Authorities said he has been posting videos of himself assaulting bystanders since at least March 2024.
The warrant stemmed from a missed court date connected to a February arrest, when Brewington was charged with third-degree criminal mischief after damaging property inside a Macy’s on Central Avenue, Colonie police said.
Brewington was also arrested in June 2023 after knocking down a statue outside of Lark Wine and Tap.
In more recent videos posted to two Facebook accounts under the name “Titan Drive,” another man appears to be helping film the assaults.
Legal expert Greg Rinckey, founder of Tully Rinckey PLLC, said the person behind the camera could potentially face charges.
“He could be charged with the same crime as the individual who assaulted these other people, which could be assault, battery, right?” Rinckey said. “All of the crimes that the individual did the actual assault.” He added, “The photographer can also be charged with the same crimes if he was involved in the planning and he can also be charged with conspiracy as well.”
Brewington was released Sunday after his arraignment. Albany police said he cannot be charged in the assault cases until victims come forward, and they are encouraging anyone with information to report tips anonymously.
