ALBANY, N.Y. (WRGB) — CBS6 is getting legal insight into what happens next after an Albany defense attorney was indicted for felony witness tampering.
We told you earlier this week Albany-based attorney Jasper Mills was indicted on charges after sharing confidential witness information in a 2021 homicide trial.
Officials say the leaked information ultimately led to a witness being attacked in federal prison.
Legal experts CBS6 spoke with say Mills will likely be disbarred from practicing law.
“As attorneys, we are entrusted with confidential and secret information and non-public information of all varieties in all kinds of cases, criminal and civil, and other matters,” said Aaron Pam, a criminal defense attorney with Tully Rinckey.
As for Mills’ current cases, Pam believes the bar association will likely reassign them to other attorneys.
In many cases, multiple attorneys are working on any given case.
