ROCHESTER, N.Y. (ARC Rochester) — Credit checks and payment history will no longer factor into most employment decisions in New York State on Saturday.
Governor Kathy Hochul signed Senate Bill S3072 into law in December, amending the state’s Fair Credit Reporting Act.
New York is the 11th state to ban the use of credit information in employment — with some exceptions.
