As part of Tully Rinckey PLLC’s plan to change its business model and expand globally, the firm has named current partner Michael W. Macomber its new chief executive officer, effective Jan. 1.

Macomber is based at the firm’s Albany office.

The change is just one of many planned by current CEO and founding partner Mathew B. Tully and founding partner Greg T. Rinckey. Tully and Rinckey plan to exit the day-to-day operations of the firm in mid-2020 and focus on international expansion.

An Albany Law School alum with a graduate certificate in business from the University of Massachusetts, Macomber was hired as an associate in 2008 and promoted to partner in 2015.

Taking on a greater international business role as of Jan. 1, global chief operating officer Graig Cortelyou also is leaving the firm’s daily operations to assist with implementation of the firm’s global growth plans.

Cortelyou will be assembling and implementing international expansion plans. The firm will open an office in London in July, and another in Dubai later this year. By July 2021, Tully Rinckey plans to have offices open in Asia.

The firm plans to add 10 new equity partners this year and 25 in the next 18 months.

An overhaul of its business model has included growing into corporate practice areas such as tax, immigration, IP and commercial real estate, adding to the number of multiple high-net worth, publicly traded companies and state agencies the firm already represents.
