ALBANY, N.Y. (WRGB) — A local law firm and a major grocery chain teamed up Tuesday to ensure Capital Region veterans have a complete meal on their tables this Thanksgiving.
Veteran-founded law firm Tully Rinckey PLLC and Market 32/Price Chopper distributed 300 turkeys to veterans and their families in Albany.
The giveaway lasted for one hour at the Raymour & Flanigan parking lot at 1960 Central Avenue before all of the turkeys were handed out.
Organizers say the event is designed to alleviate financial stress for military families during the holiday season.
According to data from the nonprofit organization Feeding America, one in nine working-age veterans in the U.S. lives in a food-insecure household.
“It is important for us to always remember veterans and we really enjoy doing this every year, this is now our 17th annual year of doing this. As you can see we have a line already, times are tough this year with the government shutdown a lot of families stretching their food budgets so we are happy to be out here again,” said Greg Rinckey, Founding Partner of Tully Rinckey PLLC.
