Daniel T. Kane is an experienced advocate for entrepreneurs and business owners nationwide, and helps startups and small businesses across New York State with formation, intellectual property strategy, government contracts, regulatory compliance, business certifications, and more.
Prior to launching the TR Business Navigator, Daniel served in several roles at the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). He has advocated for the interests of small businesses in federal regulations, government programs, and international trade discussions. He has worked closely with agency officials, congressional staffers, and industry stakeholders on transportation, environmental, technological, and cybersecurity policies.
Daniel has also helped resolve complex disputes involving small business government contractors. While serving in SBA’s Office of Hearings and Appeals, Dan often reviewed the size and certifications of service-disabled veteran-owned small businesses (SDVO SB) and women-owned small businesses (WOSB), and helped ensure small prime contractors were not too reliant on large businesses to perform contracts set aside for small businesses.
Daniel is a Registered Patent Attorney with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office and is licensed to practice Law in New York State. He is an active member of the American Bar Association’s Small Business Committee, the National Contract Management Association, and the American Inns of Court.
He obtained his Bachelor of Science in biomedical engineering from The George Washington University and his Juris Doctor from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law where he was selected to be the student commencement speaker.
