Paul J. Tortora Jr. is an associate attorney with Tully Rinckey PLLC, where he focuses his practice on education and family and matrimonial law.
Prior to joining the firm, Paul worked as a staff attorney at the Hiscock Legal Aid Society in Syracuse, New York, where he provided representation in divorce proceedings and other family law matters including, custody, domestic violence, child support, spousal support, and paternity in Supreme Court and Family Court. He also represented individuals in unemployment insurance benefits hearings and in appeals to the Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board, provided training for colleagues, and conducted presentations to the community.
Paul also worked as a solo attorney, managing his own practice in Virginia, where he represented clients in a variety of legal settings, including transactional immigration issues, divorce and custody proceedings, real estate closings, estate planning matters, and professional licensing hearings.
Also, Paul worked for the North American Securities Administrators Association in Washington, D.C, as a government affairs advisor, where he provided legal counsel and research on issues involving financial regulation and investor protection. Along with ensuring compliance with the requirements of the Lobbying Disclosure Act, he also prepared members for testimony before Congressional Committees and meetings with legislators and drafted congressional testimony, press releases, and correspondence for members of Congress.
While in D.C., he also worked as a legislative aide for Congressman Dan Maffei and Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy, where he provided legal research, analysis, and counsel to senior staff on a variety of constitutional and legislative issues and attended legislative briefings, hearings, and mark-ups.
Paul is currently admitted to practice in New York, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. He received both his Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctorate from Syracuse University.
