Tully Rinckey PLLC has acquired the Rochester law firm Harris, Chesworth, Johnstone & Welch LLP.

The Harris Chesworth team, including partners Donald O. Chesworth, Jeffrey M. Johnstone and Eugene Welch, will move to the Tully Rinckey office at 400 Linden Oaks, in Perinton, on Oct. 1.

“The acquisition of Harris, Chesworth, Johnstone & Welch, LLP, which has deep roots in the Rochester market, will enable us to further represent our valued clients in a broader range of legal matters,” Mathew B. Tully, founding partner of Tully Rinckey PLLC, said I a news release.

A general practice firm, Harris Chesworth’s primary practice groups include general business, municipal liability, trust and estates, federal and state tax, mediation, government compliance, litigation and insurance defense.

As a Partner, Donald O. Chesworth will continue to serve both local and international law enforcement communities while engaged in private law practice. His areas of concentration are general business, government issues and compliance, and municipal liability.

Partner Jeffrey M. Johnstone’s practice will include estate planning and administration, general business representation and federal and state tax matters.

Partner Eugene Welch’s practice will encompass federal and state litigation and governmental issues. Welch also will continue to provide his services as a certified federal court mediator.

In addition to Chesworth, Johnstone and Welch, two additional attorneys and two support staff will join Tully Rinckey.
